Living Arrows Week 30/52

Welcome to Living Arrows 2020! This is the third year I have taken part in this linky and I love taking part each week! If you haven't heard of the linky before, This was set up by Donna at What the Redhead Said and the name comes from the poem by Kahlil Gibran "You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth"

Each week I share one photograph of James and one of Freddie and share what they have been up to during the previous week.

This week the boys have been staying with Nana and Gaga! It had been the first time we had been to their house since February half term!

Mummy and Nana took the boys to The Little Shore beach in Amble where mummy used to go when she was a little girl. We had a really good time even if Freddie did manage to fall in the North Sea!

We also went to Alnwick Garden, which both boys loved! James was thrilled to finally get to go into the Poison Garden!

University Prep Work all Parents Need to Sort for Their Kids

Seeing your child go to university and enter into higher education is really a proud moment for a lot of parents, and this is something that it’s definitely best to prepare for moving forward. Try to make sure you do as much as possible to make the most of this right now, and you need to get the best possible outcome for your child.

Taking the plunge into university life can be a daunting prospect for a lot of people, and the more you can do to help your child have a better time at university, the better. There are loads of great things that will help you to play a part in this, and trying to get things right is so important. There are a lot of factors that you need to think about when trying to get things sorted for their kids.

Save Money
It is important to remember that university is an expensive endeavour for a lot of people, and, while there is typically government support available, this is also means-tested. You need to make sure you try to save up and put aside money as much as possible, and it is a great way of being able to ensure that the process is less expensive. In fact, you might even be in a position to help pay for your child to go to university without having to rely on a student loan, and this is important to think about..

Visit Different Institutions

You also need to think about the different ideas you can keep in mind when it comes to choosing the right university. Now, you need to remember that this is not your decision to make, it’s your childs. There are a lot of things that play a part in helping you with this, and you are going to need to work on the best ways of being able to take things to the next level with this. Try to do what you can to factor this in, and try to give them a diverse range of universities to visit and check out, as this is going to make it far easier for them to make a decision, and will allow you to get a feel for a place before actually committing to it.

Find the Right Accommodation

The right accommodation choices can also be a big part of this and it is important to make the right kind of decision here as well. There are a lot of things that play a role in helping with your making these choices, and you need to speak with your child about whether they would prefer to be housed in halls of residence, or if student studio apartments would be the kind of thing that interests them a little more.

There are a lot of things that you need to think about when it comes to improving your kid’s

university experience. And this is why it is so important to make sure you take the time to

improve things for the future, and spend time coming up with some of the best ideas you can

that will help to improve your child’s experience of going to uni.

Living Arrows 2020 Week 29/52

Welcome to Living Arrows 2020! This is the third year I have taken part in this linky and I love taking part each week!  Each week I share one photograph of James and one of Freddie and share what they have been up to during the previous week.

This week was the last week at nursery for Freddie. It feels so strange that he's already done with nursery class ready to start Reception in September.

James also had a day in school this week to say goodbye to Year Three and his teachers. Feel pretty gutted that both boys have been robbed of their school year and time with fantastic teachers.

The Siblings Project 2020 - July

Welcome to The Siblings Project 2020 July Post!

This year has been such a strange one thanks to Covid19, but it has meant that the boys have spent lots of time together!

This month the photos were taken when the boys took part in The Great Indoors Weekender by The Scout Association.

We are late with our post this week. Freddie has been back at school so our mornings have been really hectic. James on the other hand has been watching lots of documentaries on Disney plus!
We finished the week by taking part in The Great Indoors Weekender ran by the Scout Association. Both boys had a great time!

AD - ORS Hydration Tablets Review

Over the last few years we have had issues with James and his consumption of water during the day. He would go to school with a full water bottle and come home barely having drank a a few centimetres down the bottle.

When he was in Foundation and Key Stage One we knew he was getting either milk, water or a juice at lunch time and that he was drinking it. But once he moved into Key Stage Two in September 2019 he moved onto pack lunch. For the first few weeks we were putting a drink bottle of weak squash in his lunch bag. He was barely having one or two mouthfuls and he was then bringing home a barely touched water bottle from the classroom. We then moved to giving him fruit shoots in his lunch bag and he would sometimes drink half of it, but other days he would bring it home untouched along with an untouched classroom water bottle.

We tried all sorts to get him to drink over the course of the day, We tried using his reward chart at home by drawing a line half way down his bottle and saying well if you drink to the line you will get an extra star on your chart, but this didn't work. James would get badly constipated due to the lack of fluid he was drinking. He would be getting up in the night with a bad stomach.

When O.R.S. got in touch and offered to send us some of their kids hydration tablets we were thrilled. We got sent a selection of their tablets for kids and adults. James is almost eight, so for him it was two tablets per two hundred mls of water and no more than ten tablets in twenty four hours.

We would normally give James a water bottle at seven in the morning and by around eight am he would have barely touched it no matter how many times we have said to him "James drink your water!" When we made up two hundred mls and put it into his drink bottle at around eight am he had completely finished it by half past nine!

To make the solution up, I put two hundred mls of water into a jug and added the two O.R.S. tablets and left them to fully dissolve. Once they were dissolved I poured the solution into James water bottle and he drank it! I don't know if it was the fact that the blackcurrant tablet turned the water pink or that it flavoured the water but he drank it!

We will be seeing how James does over the next few weeks with these and will report back!!

**We were sent the O.R.S tablets free of charge in exchange for this review, all words and pictures are our own.

This week started with mummy going into school to drop medication off for Freddie as he was due back.

James had a great online virtual Beavers session. We are now running joint with the Cubs so we learned about the Japanese star festival Tanabata. He was set homework to make a Tanzaku. Since daddy had a week off work James decided he was going to come and help in the garden!

This week we got the confirmation that Freddie will be back in nursery on the 6th of July for the last two weeks of term. It will be so strange not having him here, but I think he needs to see other people that are not mummy, daddy and James.

James has also turned into spiderman! He's discovered he can climb our hallway wall!
